Tegrity – record from your smartphone?

Tegrity iPhone

I just returned from a three-day Tegrity conference in Seattle. It was wonderful!  While there were many things that caught my fancy, there’s a upgrade coming this summer that sounds like it has great potential for student learning and assessment.

Currently students can make their own recordings, using Tegrity. Students make recordings if their faculty has given them permission from within Tegrity, on a class-by-class basis. Their recording functionality is identical to what faculty can now do: Tegrity will record the student’s computer screen, their voice, and optionally a webcam video. Recordings are stored in each individual class, within a separate tab.

Coming in summer 2012? The ability for faculty and students to make Tegrity recordings with audio, from their Apple iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone!

According to Tegrity, 44.8% of students already use mobile or tablet devices to view Tegrity recordings.
