An eLearning “Outsider” Tells All

So, this is a couple years ago now but the lessons here are relevant.  Centralia College instructor Jeff McQuarrie completed an internship with the eLearning director (props to Dr. Rick McKinnon) at South Puget Sound Community College in 2011 and captures his lessons learned in this engaging video:

What are his lessons?

  1. Don’t re-invent the wheel.

  2. The “it’s too impersonal” rebuttal

  3. Prep time for online education does not equal F2F

  4. Increasing scalability using automation

Jeff has been teaching speech and communications here at Centralia, both in our transfer program and our new bachelor’s degree program.  His  approaches to online and hybrid education are innovative.

Great job, Jeff!
